Chris Bonelli began studying guitar in earnest at the age of 13, but there are (thoroughly embarassing) photos of him playing toy instruments dating back to when he was a toddler.
Born in Wilmington, Delaware in the late 70s, Chris was raised on a steady diet of Classic Rock and Folk music, including the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, CSN, Jim Croce, Paul Simon, and Harry Chapin, to name only a few. His formal guitar training ran headlong into the 90's grunge movement, but he soon gravitated towards more experimental and improvisational genres: jazz, reggae, and jam band. As he gained more live experience, he continued to expand his range and versatility as a vocalist.
Today, the depth and breadth of his influences can be heard throughout his repertoire. On any given night, you can expect to find genre-bending arrangements and unanticipated segues delivered with old soul sentimentality.
Chris currently resides in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He is currently booking acoustic shows in the Research Triangle area both as a solo act and with collaborators Zac Eitel and Shep Taylor in the trio Ghost + Bones.
The best way to contact Chris is always by email.
